Hi everyone! I'm Kirstin, Local Leader at the YQR studio.

How would you describe your class style?

High energy and heavy on the cardio! My favourite tracks are the ones that really keep that energy level nice and high and have a spot in them for a burst of cardio. My process is that I find a song I love first and then base the track around that. I like to mix in a chill track every four or five songs in order to bring that heart rate down just to bring it right back up with the next song. I’m known for a heavily cardio based class so my goal is to have Local’s leave with muscle fatigue and covered in sweat!

What’s your favourite song to barre to the beat to?

Honestly my playlists are all over the map which is a pretty good indication of the kind of music I listen to away from Local Barre. You’ll be hard pressed to find one of my playlists that don’t have any Drake in them. I love hip hop and find those to be great songs for barre work as they are longer and really allow you to reach that muscle burn and fatigue. I also love a good remix of any type of indie rock so I can bring a little bit of my own personality to my class. My stretch songs are usually some R&B- either Frank Ocean or Daniel Caesar. Songs that I really connect to and allow me to bring my heart rate back down and really focus on being one with my breath.
